Is This What Love Is?

 Choreographed by Olivia Huesonica
Music by Wasia Project

Inspired by the haunting, dream-like quality of the music to which it is performed, “Is This What Love Is?” explores the drama of caring deeply for someone or something. This piece brings to light the more melancholy aspects of love, and what it means to be a human overwhelmed with emotion.

Dance Party
Choreographed by Martin Roosaare

Music by Various Artists

"Dance Party," is a joyous celebration of music, movement, and nostalgia. This vibrant piece, Martin's seventh commissioned work for Azara Ballet, breaks away from his usual serious themes to embrace the lighter side of dance. Set to the infectious beats of beloved 70s and 80s hits, the choreography blends jazz and musical theatre styles with Martin’s signature flair. "Dance Party" is a reminder that while dance can convey deep emotions, it’s equally important to let loose, have fun, and celebrate the pure joy of movement.

In Praise of Stillness
Choreographed
 by Sarah Brandon
Music by Various Composers

"In Praise of Stillness" highlights the all too familiar feeling of burnout as we make the transition from a mostly carefree existence in early childhood into the relentless stress and busyness we experience as adults. Healing from the cycle of burnout means taking active steps to embrace stillness, which can feel like a foreign concept in our fast paced, always-on society.

Fortune in Divergence
Choreographed by Cecilia Roddy
Music:
In a Sentimental Mood by Duke Ellington & John Coltrane

Fortune in Divergence” explores the theme of two people being right for each other but misaligned by timing. Set to Duke Ellington and John Coltrane’s “In a Sentimental Mood,” the dance portrays this off and on connection. The piece ultimately conveys that even relationships that don’t unfold as we wish can still offer meaningful experiences that can be positive and beneficial.
