Our season finale. This evocative evening includes two world premiers:
A deeply personal new work, The Woman in White was created with a modern interpretation of the life of Emily Dickinson in mind, choreographed by Martin Flowers through a contemporary lens. Dickinson’s devotion to wearing white each day inspired the title and serves as a symbolic anchor for the work. As an autistic choreographer, Flowers’ own neurodivergent experience is deeply embedded in the piece, shaping its landscape. With tangible emotional expression, the work explores autism, “otherness,” and queer identity through the powerful language of dance.
Four Seasons is the premiere of a new work by Artistic Director Joshua Stayton, set to Max Richter’s reimagining of Vivaldi’s iconic score. The piece follows the arc of a man’s life as it unfolds alongside the cycles of nature. Guided by a Mother Nature figure, the work moves through birth in spring, the intensity and self-discovery of adolescence in summer, the weight of adulthood in autumn, and the quiet surrender of winter. Along the way, the man comes to understand his queerness—living much of his life closeted, yet experiencing deep and enduring love in the shadows. Tender and deeply human, Four Seasons reflects on identity, and the beauty and sorrow woven through a life shaped by both love and restraint.
